Fall 2012 Trend: Bold Berry lips

Bold berry lips are so in this fall and I'm totally obsessed! I have never felt so comfortable wearing bold lip colors as I do today. I actually can't remember the last time I wore a nude color on my lips (shocking since I used to only wear nudes before!). MAC Rebel lipstick is a mix between a fuchsia and plumberry color. It is not too dark and the glossy finish is a nice touch. I like to keep the rest of my face pretty simple with a black winged liner, lots of mascara, bronzed cheeks, and glowy skin.

FOTD: A Ruby Woo Tuesday

My blog was over due for a face of the day post and I thought today's look was the right one to share. For the last few months I have been obsessed with red lips and MAC Ruby Woo has become my go-to lipstick. It is the perfect shade of red shade for all skin tones! I also changed up my hair a bit and I really like the change. Originally it was more of a light ash brown but it is starting to turn a little brassy which I absolutely hate. I'm going to add a purple toner to it this weekend and hopefully that will do the trick. I'll come back with an update :)

MAC Fabulousness Warm Eye Palette Holiday 2012

The Holidays are right around the corner which means limited edition holiday kits are hitting the shelves everywhere. This time of the year MAC releases eyeshadow palettes, face palettes, pigment sets, lipgloss sets, and brush kits that are especially made to be perfect holiday gifts(pro discounts cannot be used towards the holiday collection sets). I usually get really excited for MAC's holiday collection because overall the sets can be very good deals. MAC also hit a home run with the packaging, it is super cute and everything I could ask for. I have a HUGE obsession with bows and I nearly fainted when I saw the promo pictures online. As a makeupholic I knew I had to at least own one item from the collection simply because of the packaging. Besides the packaging all of the sets are very well put together.

MAC Fabulousness Warm Eye Palette retails for $39.50 and contains five eyeshadows(All part of the permanent collection).  I decided to purchase the Warm Eyes palette because I knew I would get the most use out of it all year round. This was also the palette that had the most color pigmentation out of all three holiday palettes. Even though the eyeshadows in this collection are permanent, I don't own any of the shades in this palette which is strange because they are very pretty colors. As I mentioned, the color payoff is decent and all the eyeshadows are easy to use with very little fall out. Most of the eyeshadows in this palette have shimmer and I can see them being great highlighters for the brow bone, inner corner, or even pretty lid colors. I can see myself using this palette to create numerous smokey eye looks and I will be sure to share pictures when I do.

Additional pictures and swatches ahead....

MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection lipsticks

MAC's highly anticipated Marilyn Monroe collection hit stores today, October 4th. The collection was released online and at selected MAC stores sometime last week. MAC junkies and Marilyn Monroe fans went crazy placing orders or waiting outside the stores and most of the items sold out only after a few hours. I was standing outside MAC at 9:00 am like if it was black friday to get my hands dirty and have a swatch party. You all know by now that lipsticks and blushes are my weakness so I had to buy a few lipsticks from the collection. I skipped on the blushes since they are too sheer and light for my skin tone. The lipsticks are actually very pretty and there is a red shade for everyone, even a nude in case you're afraid of red lips.

My favorite lipstick so far is "Charmed I'm sure". It is the most gorgeous true deep red shade I have in my makeup collection. I like the matte finish since it increases the staying power. I wore this lipstick for 6 hours without having to reapply. (Face products used in the picture above are listed at the end of this post).

Additional pictures, swatches, and comparisons ahead....

♡ Packaging:
The box has a glossy finish and features a sleeve with an image of Marilyn Monroe and her signature. The inside of the box has a kiss on the flap which is a really nice touch. The lipstick tube also has a glossy finish along with an image of Marilyn and her signature.

Lip Swatches

Love Goddess - Mid-tone red pink shade with a satin finish. This lipstick is opaque and leaves a sheen.

Charmed I'm Sure - Dark true red shade with a matte finish. This lipstick is rich in color and provides full coverage. The consistency is a little to drying but a little lip balm does the trick.

Scarlet Ibis - Bright orange-red shade with a matte finish. This lipstick is also rich in color and provides full coverage. The consistency is creamy and feels like butter on the lips.

♡NOTD: Forever 21 Love & Beauty Light Orange nail polishh

I've been on a hunt for a light neon orange nail polish for a really long time now. I finally found a color similar to the one I was searching for at Forever 21. I also decided to try stiletto style nails on myself and I must say this pointy nail style is not for everyone but I personally love them! :)

By the way, Forever 21 nail polishes have great color pay off and are affordable.  This particular color required two coats and applied evenly without streaks or clumping. It is still in stock online at forever21.com for $2.80(click here for the direct link) or you can try your local Forever 21 store.

What are your thoughts on this pointy nail trend? Hate it or love it?
